After the group’s concert in Warsaw, Poland, last week, as part of their 1st Europe Live tour, concert promoter 5 Oceans Studio released a statement on Instagram on behalf of the group’s agency, 257 Entertainment.

In the announcement, the promoter explained that 257 Entertainment has decided that “no flags will be displayed during concerts.” The statement went on to claim this rule reflects XLOV’s own aim to “create a neutral and welcoming space where every fan can feel equally represented and comfortable,” adding that it was instated “out of consideration for all communities and individual beliefs.”

The policy outraged many fans, who criticized the company for the new rule.

Afterward, the company shared a recording of the group addressing the policy, with the members apologizing for the change, mentioning that flags were not taken during other dates as they did not want to represent something that they didn’t know the meaning of.

Wumuti continued by saying that their concerts would continue to be safe spaces for fans, and that they did not want to upset anyone.

While many were moved by their words and addressing of the situation themselves…

…others were frustrated and angered by the company using the members to address fan complaints.
