K-Pop idols often share their meals, whether for product placement or to share their personal tastes. For example, BTS Jungkook‘s ramen recipe went viral, and fans loved watching the idol eat, though on some occasions, the meals shared have had an opposite effect.

The infamous “Inkigayo sandwiches” are one such example of a food shared by idols that did not go over so well.

Usually, these are humorous discussions but the one surrounding Soyeon’s post is more serious.

On April 19, the idol shared a photo on her Instagram story of a plate which consisted of two slices of some sort of fruit, a piece of broccoli, and a handful of rice.

After it was posted, many reacted to the image with negative comments, viewing her post as Soyeon showing what her meal was. The small amount of food on the plate also sparked accusations that the idol was “promoting” disordered eating.

On the other hand, fans of the idol and others have defended her, sharing possible explanations and pointing out that it is a serious issue that goes beyond K-Pop idols.
