She then made a surprising declaration: “I’ve already mentally retired from being a comedian! Starting in the second half of the year, I’ll officially retire!” Yet she added, “I’ll continue with acting and broadcasting work that I’ve been doing all along. People live almost 100 years, and since I got to try being a comedian once, it was great. I plan to enjoy the second chapter of my life doing work I love and living happily.”

Maeng Seung Ji went on to explain in more detail what led to her decision to retire. She said, “From now on, I’m retired as a comedian! I passed the public recruitment, did public comedy for two years, won Rookie of the Year, appeared on almost all MBC variety shows, and had a great time as a comedian even after moving to SBS!” reflecting on her brilliant past.

However, she soon admitted, “But it’s been over 10 years since I did public comedy, and I don’t plan to do it in the future either, so sometimes it feels strange to still be called a comedian! I just have to retire,” revealing her honest feelings. She also shared some of the unseen hardships she experienced while working in broadcasting. Maeng Seung Ji confessed, “Honestly, when I appear as a comedian on shows, it’s hard to get used to forcing humor just to be funny,” evoking both sympathy and sadness.

She concluded her long post with a refreshing note, saying, “Wow, it feels so good to say this out loud! Good night!!!” conveying a sense of relief after a long period of contemplation.
