On May 11, producer Lee Min Soo, who worked on hit records “Good Day” and “The Red Shoes,” took to Instagram to address recent plagiarism allegations. The full translation is below.

Hello. It is with a heavy heart that I address a difficult situation because it has been so long since I have greeted you.

Yesterday afternoon I read that two songs that I have produced, Good Day and The Red Shoes, were alleged to have been plagiarized.

I have not spoken up about The Red Shoes since a 2013 press release in which I denied it was plagiarized. But because of the recent controversy and unwarranted hate towards the artist, I am carefully writing to you.

I did not base or copy the music of another person while working on The Red Shoes and “Good Day.”

I, as the producer of The Red Shoes and Good Day, ask that you don’t hurt the heart of fans and especially IU.

— Lee Min Soo

Previously, IU made news when it was reported that a non-celebrity Korean citizen had filed a lawsuit alleging IU had plagiarized the works of other artists. The suit claimed that the singer had plagiarized a total of six songs.
