Production Company For “King the Land” Apologizes For Their Representation Of An Arab Prince

The production company for JTBC K-Drama King the Land has apologized for their representation of an Arab prince.

In a statement shared in English and Korean on JTBC’s homepage, JTBC shared an apology from the production team of the K-Drama regarding their offensive representation of an Arab Prince. The English statement is below.

In their Korean statement, they added that they are planning to edit the parts that were considered offensive and will work towards making sure there are no more inconveniences for the viewers in the future.

During episodes seven and eight of King the Land, an Arab Prine ccharacter (Prince Samir, played by Anupam Tripathi) was introduced as a friend of Gu Won (played by 2PM‘s Lee Junho). However, many viewers felt that the production team’s representation of an Arab Prince was disrespectful.
