(★TRENDING) Prosecutors Demand Former President Park Geun Hye Go To Jail For 30 Years
Korean prosecutors demanded a 30-year-sentence and a fine of 118.5 billion won (~110.2 million dollars) for the former President Park Geun Hye‘s corruption scandal.
The scandal included alleged bribery, abuse of power and crime in landmark corruption.
“The former President Park Geun Hye, whose position was to supervise the administration of the state, gave the key to governmental power to a secretive official that had never once been involved with national affairs and put the country in danger.”

Park Geun Hye along with her confidante Choi Soon Sil had taken or been promised a total of 59.2 billion KRW (~$52 million USD) from the three Korean conglomerates Samsung, Lotte and SK. She was also accused of requesting 77.4 billion won (~72 million USD) in “donations” from other large Korean companies.
As a result of massive riots and impeachment, she was formally removed from office in March 2017 and Choi Soon Sil was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
However, Park Geun Hye hadn’t appeared for her court dates since October 16th and had failed to show up at her final trial as well. She has been “boycotting” the hearings in order to extend her detention by six months.
Prosecutors say that she has shown no remorse for disrupting the constitutional order or the fact that she broke the public’s trust in the national government. They predict that she will file for an appeal if she is convicted, as she’s continuously denied wrongdoings.
The court has yet to set a date for the final verdict and sentencing, but Park Geun Hye will have to come out of hiding for her mandatory sentencing. The court is prepared to sentence another arrest warrant should she fail to comply.
