Red Velvet Gets Shocking Crowd Reaction At First Performance Without Wendy And Yeri

Red Velvet’s first appearance as three members at SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Mexico this week drew in an astounding reaction from fans in attendance.
While netizens had demanded a cancellation of the event just a week prior due to seemingly low ticket sales, the non-stop roar that erupted from the crowd as soon as Red Velvet took the stage made it clear the stadium was packed.

The intense positive reaction came as Red Velvet took the stage as a trio for the first time. While Irene, Seulgi, and Joy did perform a special cover stage together at SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul, this marked their first official appearance representing the group as three following Wendy and Yeri’s departure from SM Entertainment earlier this year. The agency did confirm that Wendy and Yeri would still appear in group activities with Red Velvet, but they are notably absent from all international stops on the SMTOWN LIVE 2025 world tour.

Originally, fans expected the remaining members to perform their solo and unit songs at the Mexico City concert. Instead, they boldly took on the vocals in both “Bad Boy” and “Red Flavor” together, maintaining the essence of Red Velvet’s signature sound while showcasing their individual strengths.

The excitement from the crowd for their first stage of the night was particularly astounding given that the song they were performing was “Bad Boy,” originally released over seven years ago. Irrespective of its age, Red Velvet proved the iconic track remains an undisputed hit among SM Entertainment fans worldwide.

With nearly 11 years in the industry, Red Velvet stood out as one of the most senior acts in the SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Mexico lineup, performing alongside 10 junior acts. Despite this, the crowd was heard chanting for the third-generation group before they even set foot on stage.

Now, the support has sparked demands for a “real” Red Velvet world tour.

Though the group previously performed in the United States and Canada with their second tour, REDMARE, and in Europe with their fourth tour, R to V, they are yet to visit more than two continents on a single tour or hold their own concert in Mexico. Prior to SMTOWN, the group’s last performance in Mexico City was at KCON 2017.
