Red Velvet’s Joy Suffers “Exposing” Wardrobe Malfunction Mid-Performance

After a close call with a wardrobe malfunction at a recent performance, Red Velvet’s Joy once again proved why she’s considered a true professional.

The SMTOWN LIVE 2025 tour made its first international stop in Mexico this week, featuring performances from Red Velvet’s Irene, Seulgi, and Joy, among other groups. The trio impressed the crowd with their performances of “Bad Boy” and “Red Flavor,” but their iconic cover of Girls’ Generation’s “Run Devil Run” took an unexpected hit.

Mid-performance, the right strap on Joy’s dress suddenly detached, leaving it dangling behind her.
A malfunction like this could have easily turned into an exposing moment, but Joy’s quick thinking saved her. Within seconds, the star made the smart decision to strategically reposition her long hair, covering the exposed area.
A true professional, Joy continued performing without missing a beat.

Many fans watching the performance didn’t even notice the malfunction in real-time.

Unfortunately, however, this isn’t Joy’s first encounter with a wardrobe incident. In fact, she’s experienced similar issues numerous times in past performances.

As such, while fans have praised her professionalism, many have also criticized the styling team for failing to be more careful.
