Samsung Shades Apple For Allegedly Copying Its BTS-Inspired Purple

The tea is hot.

Korean tech company Samsung is shading competitor Apple… due to BTS?

September 7 was Apple Event Day. The new iPhone 14 and more were announced.

What is even more notable is that Apple is primarily advertising it in a new deep purple. Previously, Apple released a lavender option with the iPhone 12.

The new deep purple iPhone has caught the attention of ARMYs (fans of BTS).

Purple became BTS’s official group color after V coined the term borahae (I purple you). So, purple is often used in association with BTS.

ARMYs were not the only ones who noticed Apple’s new purple iPhone and suspected that it was created with BTS in mind.

On September 7, the same day as the Apple Event, Samsung tweeted, “COOL STORY BRO,” but with purple emojis in place of the O’s, clearly referencing the new Deep Purple.

In August, Samsung held its annual Samsung Unpacked event. With the help of Global Ambassadors BTS, the new Galaxy Z Flip4 was introduced along with the new color Bora Purple, named after Borahae. So, Samsung is making implications that Apple has copied its purple.

An ARMY also pointed out that since Samsung originally released the Bora Purple in honor of BTS and Apple is attempting to compete by introducing the Deep Purple, BTS is the true reason behind it all. Samsung cheekily responded, “The math is mathing.”

The shade by no means ended there, though. September 7 was filled with Samsung’s social media manager shading Apple.

Many tweets referenced that Apple appears to have copied features and names of Samsung…

Yet, most reference that Apple has still yet to introduce foldable phones as Samsung has.

One thing is for certain BTS’s influence is unmatched.
