On the 12th, tvN released its 2026 drama lineup on its official YouTube channel. Among them, Second Signal, which was scheduled to be released in the first half of this year, was notably excluded from the lineup.
Second Signal is a sequel to the 2016 drama Signal and was planned as a special project commemorating the 10th anniversary of Signal and the 20th anniversary of tvN’s founding.
Actors Jo Jin Woong, Lee Je Hoon, and Kim Hye Soo completed all filming in August last year, aiming for a 2026 release in June. However, in December, Jo Jin Woong, playing the key character Lee Jae Han, became embroiled in a “juvenile offender” controversy, casting doubt on the drama’s planned broadcast.
Earlier, Jo Jin Woong declared his retirement from the entertainment industry, stating, “I sincerely apologize to those who trusted and relied on me for the past regrettable incident,” and added, “I humbly accept all criticism and will cease all activities from today, marking the end of my acting career.”
In response, tvN issued an official statement regarding the scheduling of Second Signal: “To protect the value of Signal, we will take whatever time is necessary and exhaust all efforts to find the optimal solution for the work and our viewers.“
