SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu Sparks Major Backlash With Alcohol-Related Actions At Concert
SEVENTEEN Mingyu‘s actions at a recent concert have sparked backlash.

During a recent show in Austin, Mingyu was spotted taking a shot of alcohol from a fan in the crowd.
Netizens shared anger towards the fan, security, and Mingyu for being “irresponsible,” with some sharing about the incident with TVXQ’s Yunho and having glue in his drink.
everytime an idol takes a drink from a fan the yunho superglue incident just pops into my mind … awful stuff. https://t.co/nYy5vuapd5

Sorry to say but thats very reckless of him to just drink anything being given by the fan. That could be dangerous and should not be done by both the artists and the fans in the first place. And honestly what happen to the safety protocols during concert? https://t.co/9DnM9fm4KJ

Other than not knowing what’s in the drink. Girl, you don’t know if someone has drank on the cup and what if they have infectious disease or something. I might be overthinking but do you get what I mean 😪 https://t.co/hty1MJHqhy

I get that liquor’s being sold in the venue, but giving it to the artist mid-concert is still irresponsible. The fan, security, and even Mingyu should’ve known better. This isn’t some hihi haha moment, too. I just hope this doesn’t become a norm, coz antis could easily twist this… https://t.co/7uMRYBuPdB

The video has also added to the discourse that the members treat fans differently in the West compared to Southeast Asia countries.
Carats from SEA aren’t allowed to bring water at all GAAAHAHAAHAH

Ewwww, I’ve never been this disappointed in you guys.
You go all out with fanservice in the US, but when it comes to Asia (especially SEA), your agency treats us like we’re a problem.. and constantly reminding us about fan etiquette https://t.co/jF3Gtr2Vjz

so its fine when us fans bring liquor even gave it to the artist but when its sea fans or at least me in the previous concert i cant event bring my fucking water bottle inside the venue. wow, the different treatment is crazy https://t.co/AIFrj7yu7J

Yet, some fans explained that no drinks can be brought from outside, so the fan would have had to buy them from the venue. Alcohol and other snacks are readily available from inside, as mentioned on the website.

to asian fans wondering why / how they could bring liquor inside the venue, it’s because we/ the venues sell alcohol inside 😭 like the stalls have food and drinks which includes beers/alcohols! https://t.co/CWlDtZ5o07
