SHINee’s Minho Proves Himself To Be An LGBTQIA+ Ally

Shawols can’t stop praising him for it!

Despite South Korea’s conservatism towards gay rights, the members of the beloved K-Pop boy group SHINee have been recognized LGBTQIA+ allies for years.

Last year, Minho even portrayed gay character Woo Gi, a colleague of the female lead in the K-Drama adaptation of Webtoon Yumi’s Cells.

The reason behind why he chose the role was particularly admirable. He hoped viewers would find “comfort” in the representation.

Now, Minho has proved himself to be a true ally again during his trip in England.

Minho has been sharing lots of pictures from his travels and sightseeing. One of his latest posts includes him at The Notting Hill Book Shop Ltd.

Shawols (SHINEE fans) couldn’t help but notice the third slide (what he was taking a photo of in the first slide). It was the display window featuring a majority of LGBTQIA+ focused books, including Shon Faye‘s The Transgender Issue, Catherine Lord and Richard Meyer‘s Art and Queer CultureDaisy Jones‘ All The Things She Said, and Joanna McClintick‘s ‘Twas the Night Before Pride.

Minho’s heart and allyship are yet more reasons why Shawols love him.

It was a subtle but notable way to show his allyship even after Pride Month!
