SHINee’s Onew Attends First Public Event Since Recovery
SHINee‘s Onew is back in the public eye and fans are emotional.
Last June 2023, SM Entertainment announced that the idol would be sitting out of promotions for an unspecified amount of time due to his health. Fans were worried after seeing his thin and frail physique and were only too happy to support his recovery.
Recently, Onew visited the hospital after experiencing health issues and has since received a medical examination and consultation. It has been advised he will need medical care and rest. After careful discussion with the group, they have decided to have Onew focus on recovering for the time being as he will be unable to participate in the upcoming activities.

Almost a year later on April 20, 2024, he was spotted at Incheon Airport in a much healthier condition. Fans were understandably emotional, much more so a day afterwards when he appeared on the red carpet of Mediacorp Entertainment‘s Star Awards 2024.
It is an annual award show held in Singapore that aims to “celebrate the best content and brightest stars in the local Chinese entertainment industry.”
As evidenced by the photos and videos taken by those in attendance, he looked healthy and happy the entire time. Onew smiled from ear to ear and closely interacted with his fans.

SHAWOLs did not hold back emotionally, expressing their amazement that he was attending his first red carpet event in years. It was also notably his first public appearance in 10 months since his hiatus.

Korean netizens also commented that they were happy to see him looking so healthy, saying they were “relieved” that he’s “gotten so much better.”

Besides appearing on the red carpet, Onew also graced the stage with his presence in a solo performance of his song “Your Scent.”
He then presented an award, beaming confidently on stage especially upon hearing the cheers of his fans.
