The Shocking Penalty NJZ (NewJeans) Danielle Could Face From HYBE
NJZ (NewJeans) member Danielle may be facing an enormous financial penalty following ADOR’s decision to terminate her exclusive contract.

According to industry and legal experts, the penalty Danielle could be held responsible for may reach an eye-watering ₩100 billion KRW (about $69.2 million USD). This estimate is based on standard K-pop contract calculations, which often factor in a company’s average revenue over recent years multiplied by the remaining contract period.

ADOR’s contract with NewJeans is reportedly set to run until July 31, 2029, leaving around four and a half years remaining. With ADOR’s 2024 revenue exceeding ₩111 billion KRW (about $76.8 million USD), legal analysis suggests the penalty alone could amount to approximately ₩108 billion KRW (about $74.7 million USD) per member.
Importantly, this figure refers to a penalty fee, which is separate from damages. Under Korean law, penalties can be claimed independently of compensation for losses caused by contract breaches. However, courts do have the authority to reduce the amount if it is deemed excessive.
ADOR has already announced plans to formally file lawsuits seeking both penalties and damages against Danielle, putting her in a legally and financially precarious position.
