SM Entertainment Idol Shocks By Exposing Company’s “Pathetic” Internal Situation

“It’s disgusting how companies in this country squeeze people dry to the bone.”

Known as one of the original “Big 3” companies, SM Entertainment has had a reputation of success.

However, in recent years, some have loudly criticized the company for mismanaging its groups, and some artists under the label have called it out. Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon has done so on multiple occasions.

Now, another artist has surprised by revealing internal circumstances at SM Entertainment.

Following the SMTOWN concert in Bangkok, NCT‘s Kun went live where he spoke about a number of topics, including an update on WayV‘s team. He shared that only one person was working on editing content as the second person quit, and that he had often recommended they hire another person.

This was reposted on to a popular forum, where netizens were surprised to hear about the circumstances. Many admonished SM Entertainment for creating such situations where the artist is affected and its seemingly poor treatment of employees.

  • I seriously don’t get it. If that happens, of course the one person left would want to quit too. Then it becomes zero people and they have to start over from scratch, hiring and training again…; They should just hurry and hire one more person so the two of them can work together and last longer. It’s so frustrating when SM acts like some broke, tiny company. I’m not even a WayV fan, I’m a fan of another team, but the way SM moves is so small-company coded.
  • Just hire one more person for the second center… Actually, more than hiring, they need to create an environment where people can actually stay.
  • It’s cool that the artist stepped up and said something like that. I hope their treatment improves.
  • They make so much money—would it really hurt them to hire one more person for the video team? It’s disgusting how companies in this country squeeze people dry to the bone.
