SM Entertainment Releases Official Statement Regarding Rumors About Trainee Yoo Jimin

The company promises to protect their artists better.

SM Entertainment trainee Yoo Jimin was previously swept up in rumors as anonymous posters claiming to be her classmates started circulating on community sites. It was claimed that she had not only insulted BTS, but also her direct label seniors, NCT and EXO.

A few weeks later, SM Entertainment has finally stepped up to address the claims. The company claims that these posts were fabricated, including the alleged screenshots of chats with her friends.

Recently, there has been malicious rumors about our trainee, Yoo Jimin, on online community sites. Not only were the contents of these posts fabricated, malicious rumors were blown up and our trainee was targeted with baseless criticism.

The company has also since lodged lawsuits at their neighbourhood police station, engaging the help of a legal team.

We have engaged Kim and Jang, a legal firm, and have lodged cases with Gangnam Police Station on 14 October 2020, with regards to slander and humiliation targeted at Yoo Jimin.
