SPC Brand Under Fire For Using “Lucky Vicky” Catchphrase In Its Product Name

Netizens are appalled.

Recently, a brand from SPC Group garnered much attention online for a particular product using a popular catchphrase in the name.

Baskin Robbins released a dessert named Lucky Vicky Mochi and received criticism from not only fans but also from the fan who originally started the meme.

This meme, first started after IVE Jang Wonyoung’s way of thinking blew up online from her reaction to buying bread in a Spain vlog.

A fan then posted an example of her way of thinking online, thus starting the “Lucky Vicky” meme.

““Positive thinking: The glass is half full.

Negative thinking: The glass is half empty.

Wonyoung thinking: I was about to drink water after practice and just about half a cup of water was left. I had hoped for just about half because it would be too much to drink all of it and not enough if it was too little. I am totally a ‘Lucky Vicky!’”

The same fan also posted a response to the product using the meme.

In the first place, as long as it’s become a meme, it’s natural for it to be used here and there since it’s derived from her name. If it were going to be used for marketing, I would’ve just had fun looking at it, but seeing it being used by SPC, who is notorious for its shitty working conditions and is using the name to sell a product without any business ethics, is making me mad?

Korean netizens also criticized the company for it’s lack of morals.
