The issue supposedly began over the announcement of Stray Kids’ Lain American tour, STRAYCITY. On May 22 (KST), the boy group announced three concert dates in Colombia, Argentina, and Mexico, sparking huge anticipation. However, many TWICE fans felt wronged, as the girl group had scrapped plans to add a Latin American stop to their ongoing tour. They directed the blame at JYP Entertainment for what they perceived as preferential treatment toward Stray Kids.

This feud, however, took a nasty turn with the two fanbases going back and forth, making insulting comments about the respective groups. As the heat kept getting turned up, Stray Kids leader Bangchan left everyone shocked by directly speaking up on the matter.

While Bangchan didn’t address the accusation that TWICE’s Latin American tour dates were “stolen” by his group, he did call out his fans sternly for disrespecting the girl group. In a message to his fans, the idol urged them to “just appreciate and be grateful for TWICE,” adding that the members were all his friends and he had nothing but respect for them in his heart.

The message has triggered polarizing responses on social media. On the one hand, TWICE fans have shown massive appreciation for Bangchan speaking up directly on the issue.

However, on the other hand, many Stray Kids fans expressed their severe disappointment and outrage at Bangchan’s response, accusing him of trying to appease another fanbase at the expense of his own.

Some fans from both sides also expressed their warm support for Bangchan, urging each other’s community to stop the animosity for the sake of the artists themselves.
