TREASURE Hyunsuk’s Drastic Change In Appearance Becomes A Hot Topic

Hyunsuk has often experimented with his looks.

There’s no doubt that visuals are a huge part of K-Pop and any time an idol makes even a small change to their appearance, it is immediately noticed.

This is even more true for big changes, like when an idol gets a facial piercing …

This time last year, Hyunsuk was rocking a cool-toned cotton candy look with his natural dark hair just beginning to grow from the shaved sides.

Over the last five months, Hyunsuk’s appearance drastically changed. In July 2023, at the 2023 TMEA Awards, Hyunsuk sported black shaggy hair with purple highlights.

Sometime after this, Hyunsuk went blond, sporting the same style with longer hair. On October 31, he shared that he had gotten a Labret piercing under his lip.

Hyunsuk’s look at the 2023 MAMA Awards drew attention as he was accused of committing cultural appropriation again. His hair was in braids, and he sported a single orange-dyed eyebrow.

TREASURE’s Hyunsuk Comes Under Fire For Cultural Appropriation In A Recent Social Media Video

On December 15, the first night of TREASURE’s REBOOT In Seoul concert series occurred. A fansite captured images of Hyunsuk, showing his blond hair slicked back and the same “odd-eye” eyebrow look as before.

His jawline was also very defined, and his face narrower than usual.

The fansite’s posting hit over a million views, as many were surprised by how different Hyunsuk appears.

While some have had less than positive things to say about his current styling, many have shown support, urging people to think before they speak.

Idols often change their images throughout their careers, and as long as they are not offending other cultures, there is nothing wrong with trying a new look.
