An upcoming film remake has already become a hot topic because of its cast.

In 2022, the Japanese film Even if This Love Disappears from the World Tonight was released. Based on the novel by Misaki Ichijo, the story centers on a male student who makes a false confession to a female classmate suffering from a memory loss disease, and creates rules for their relationship.

Because of his bully classmates, Toru Kamiyamakes a false confession to his classmate Maori Hino. Her tells her that he likes her, but she lays out rules for him if they are to date. One of her rules is that they are not to fall in love with each other. Toru Kamiya and Maori Hino begin to date and have a good time together. Soon, Toru Kamiya breaks his promise and falls in love with Maori Hino. When Toru Kamiya makes a heartfelt confession to her, she informs him that she has a disease. When she wakes up, her disease causes her to have no memory of the day before. She keeps a diary of what happened the day before and reads it in the morning to help recall her memories. Earlier this year, it was announced that a Korean remake would be released in December, starring Choo Young Woo and Shin Shi A in the lead roles.

A recent post comparing the actors in each version recently went viral, reflecting negative opinions of Choo and Shin. The two were visually compared to actors Shunsuke Michieda and Riko Fukumoto, and referred to as “old and ugly.”

  • Choo Young-woo and Shin Shi A are just straight-up old and ugly. Please stop making romance dramas with faces you’d see on the street — they’re not handsome, not pretty, and not innocent-looking.
  • Old-looking, old-looking — damn, they look old. Our country’s remakes flop because they keep insisting that 30-year-olds are 18. They look old as hell, you crazy idiots.
