But not too long ago, she gave up on her dream of being a K-Pop idol trainee. Prior to her debut in LE SSERAFIM, Yunjin was a contestant on Mnet‘s reality show, Produce 48. She had moved from the United States to try her luck in the competition as a PLEDIS Entertainment trainee.

Unfortunately, she was eliminated after ranking #26 overall.

The result wasn’t easy on her. “After the show ended, and I went back to the tranquil trainee life, I felt sort of lonely,” she admitted several months ago.

She decided to give up on trainee life, but it was alright with her because of one reason—she wasn’t letting go of her dream of pursuing music. In an interview with Weverse Magazine, she explained that she had always been passionate about succeeding. She refused to fail no matter how difficult things became.

I think it’s because I had a dream. What’s really fascinating is that, even during my trainee years, I knew I couldn’t give up no matter how hard it got, and I tried to make sure I never let it slip away from me, even unconsciously.

Recalling the time she stopped training, she clarified that she never intended to give up on her dream. No matter where life took her, she wanted to have a career in music. Her mind was made up, proving that her passion is undeniable!

Even the time I gave up, I wasn’t really giving up. That was me thinking about dropping out of trainee life; I wasn’t going to give up on my dream. I always knew I had to do something related to music, no matter what it was, and my thoughts never strayed from following my dreams, even if the path I took was going to look a little different.
