Yang Hyun Suk Acquitted In First Trial For B.I Drug Investigation Case

There was insufficient evidence.

Former YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk, who was indicted for ignoring drug investigation for former iKON member B.I, was acquitted in the first trial. The 23rd Division of the Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court held a sentencing hearing on charges of violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment.

The judge stated, “There is insufficient evidence to conclude that the accused threatened the victim by notifying the victim of specific and direct harm.”

He denied charges of attempting to cover up B.I.’s drug scandal in his trial in 2021, stating that he never threatened or forced the informant to make a false statement. Most recently, the prosecution demanded a three-year prison sentence for Yang of his involvement in B.I’s drug case.

Yang was previously investigated under suspicions of attempting to cover up his artist’s drug controversy with money. Read about the full recap of the case below.
