YG Entertainment’s Girl Group Receives Massive Pushback Even Before Debuting
YG Entertainment‘s (YGE hereon) upcoming new girl group has stirred up a storm online, and they haven’t even revealed the full lineup yet!
As announced by YGE, the label is gearing up to launch a new girl group, following the legacy of BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER. The lineup will comprise four members, of whom only two have been revealed.

The first member introduced under the “YG NEXT MONSTER” project was Evelli. She is a 15-year-old Australian trainee who was unveiled for the first time last year.

The second member that YGE introduced was On Chanya from Thailand, who is also 15.

While fans are waiting for the other two members to be revealed, a post on Nate Pann recently went viral, criticizing YGE for constantly debuting Thai trainees. The OP (original poster) implied that BLACKPINK member Lisa‘s success might prove fatal for YGE and questioned whether this would be the label’s last shot at redemption.
The post has attracted some polarizing opinions from netizens, with some claiming the label is creating a K-Pop group without Koreans.

- “They’ve lost it. Damn it, stop including Southeast Asia in everything!”
- “Another Korean group where half of them are foreigners. Sigh.”
- “In my opinion, YG needs to fire the old-timers at the top. The fact that Yang Hyun Suk is still in charge is already a hopeless mess.”
- “Apparently, even a Thai politician came to visit as if something prestigious was going on here, LOL. But if we’re being honest, it was because Lisa was from BLACKPINK that it caused such a stir in Thailand. If she had been from just any other group, they wouldn’t have been able to capitalize on that nationalistic pride.”
- “It’s a complete disaster… This is why, especially in industries where trends are crucial, like entertainment companies, there needs to be a regular turnover of top management.”
Despite the vitriol, fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of YG Entertainment’s new girl group, excited about how they will take the legacy forward.
