YG Entertainment’s repetitive “No comment” response to dating scandals uncovered once more

YG Entertainment is getting interest with the way they responds to malicious rumours especially in light of Nam Taehyun’s recent dating controversy.

On Octobe 18th, WINNER’s vocalist was involved in a scandal involving actress Jung Ryeo Won. Although Jung Ryeo Won’s management agency immediately denied the claims and cited the two as friends through mutual acquaintances, YG Entertainment was silent throughout the entire ordeal.

As news of the scandal faded throughout the day, YG Entertainment released a statement saying, “No comment,” allowing fans to question if the agency was denying or silently affirming the speculations. The statement led netizens and media agencies alike to question why Taehyun’s agency refused to comment, while KeyEast Entertainment commented to the issue straight away.

The move was also compared to previous dating speculations involving their artists G-Dragon and Taeyang. When news about G-Dragon’s alleged involvement with Japanese model, Komatsu Nana, YG Entertainment only released a statement that they respect the will and privacy of their artist as their official stance. This was different to the way they handled news of Taeyang dating where they acknowledged his relationship to actress Min Hyo Rin immediately after the reports.

Currently, the agency revealed a neutral stance on Taehyun’s involvement while the singer remains on hiatus due to his health condition.
