Youn Yuh Jung’s departure from the label was first alleged on November 17. At the time, HOOK Entertainment denied the rumors, stating that the actor would not be leaving.
Youn Yuh Jung’s exit follows a drastic fall from grace for the once powerful agency. The agency’s trouble started when in a Dispatch exposé, it was alleged that the agency had ties to actor Park Min Young‘s controversial ex-boyfriend Kang Jong Hyun.
The agency then made news when it was revealed that it was raided by Police Agents. At the time, it was alleged that the agency was facing embezzlement charges as part of a larger investigation into Kang Jong Hyun.
Then Dispatch released a damning exposé alleging the agency had gaslighted and had not paid superstar Lee Seung Gi for his music career. International superstar Lee Seung Gi left the agency on December 1.
Youn Yuh Jung is one of Korea’s most revered actors. The venerable actor’s accolades include a Screen Actors Guild Award, a British Academy Film Award, an Order Of Cultural Merit, and an Academy Award.
