Sunmi and 2NE1’s Dara Are Among Celebrities Attending “W Korea” Breast Cancer Charity Event

Tons of celebrities showed up to W Korea’s “Love Your W” charity event.

Numerous celebrities showed up at W Korea‘s 14th Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign charity event held at Jongnog Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul.

The event was held on the afternoon of October 25. Among the attendees were actress Park Shin Hye, Jessica Jung, and former Wonder Girls members Sunmi and Yubin, who delighted fans with shared pictures from inside the event.

The charity event is held annually in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

W Korea’s “LOVE YOUR W” event has been wildly successful since its inauguration, attendees from previous years include f(x)‘s Amber and Lee Dong Wook.

W Korea’s campaign is intended to emphasize the need for early detection and diagnosis and has been integral in spreading this important knowledge since the event launched in 2006.

Donations from the charity event fund free examinations and treatment for low-income individuals.

Also in attendance at this year’s event were Apink‘s Son Naeun, former SISTAR member SoyouAOA‘s Jimin, Han Ye Seul, Han Chae Young, Ara, Honey Lee, Ko So Young, Heize, Son Young Jae, Irene, Lee Ho Jung, Stefanie Michova and Beenzino.

Breast cancer screenings aren’t recommended for women under forty, however, women with a family history of the disease or with genetic mutations can consult with their doctor and begin having mammograms much earlier.

Unfortunately, breast cancer can occur in women of any age, with 5% of cases occurring in women under the age of forty, so home self-exam plays an important part in early diagnosis as well.

Young women should receive counseling from the doctor on the awareness of breast health and report any changes to their healthcare provider.

Earlier this year, singer Suran confessed on Video Star that she had been battling breast cancer for the last three to four years, having been first diagnosed in her mid-to-late twenties, emphasizing that disease doesn’t discriminate against age or social status.

It certainly is good to see so many stars turning up to support such a wonderful charitable event to support others who may be in need during a sensitive time in their lives.
