Here’s How Aespa’s NingNing Became Friends With C-Pop Star Esther Yu
Aespa‘s NingNing is known to be a huge social butterfly. She’s already known to be friends with most of the “China-line” K-Pop idols including WayV‘s Ten, (G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi, NCT‘s Chenle, and more! While it’s a no-brainer how she ended up friends with the Chinese idols in the K-Pop industry, she recently revealed a more surprising friendship.
During a video call fan sign, NingNing casually asked a fan about the current hottest Chinese drama, Love Between Fairy and Devil. After confirming that the fan was tuning in too, NingNing proudly declared that she was also keeping up with the show. The reason? Her friend “Xin Xin” was starring in it!

Xin Xin turned out to be an endearing nickname for C-Pop star, Esther Yu Shu Xin. K-Pop fans may recognize her as BLACKPINK Lisa‘s adorable fangirl from Youth With You!
Just how did the unlikely pair become friends? They wouldn’t have crossed paths as NingNing has yet to promote in China, and Esther has not promoted in Korea. Turns out, Zhou Jie Qiong was the bridge. Some may know her as Kyulkyung from PRISTIN and I.O.I. She introduced the two after realizing they were fans of each other.
