A lot has changed since Taeyang’s last solo comeback in 2017. The talented BIGBANG member got married, enlisted in the military, and had his first son with his gorgeous and talented wife, actress Min Hyo Rin.

In that time, BIGBANG also went on a 4-year hiatus, coming back in April 2022 as four members with their single, “Still Life.”

Given the extremely fast-moving pace of the entertainment industry, Taeyang knew that there would be some differences when he returned to active promotions.

In a new interview with Vogue Singapore, Taeyang opens up about adjusting to the trends of the third- and fourth-generation and how it has affected his promotions.

Taeyang acknowledged that promoting new music is not as simple as releasing an album and shared that he learned about third- and fourth-generation idols from fellow soldiers in the military and noticed how different it was from K-Pop’s second-generation.

I became curious about how [third- and fourth-generation idols] approach things. Through my daily interactions with them, I began to understand more about the different trends or platforms they were interested in.

Even with 17 years of experience in the industry, Taeyang shared that he wanted to embrace these changes and actively took part in recent promotional tactics, such as dance challenges with fellow idols.

I opened up to the idea of trying dance challenges or partaking in new platforms, but it would be a lie if I said that there was no pressure to try these new things that I had never tried before. When I actually tried it though, it was easier than I thought.

When asked if he had advice for his industry juniors, he shared that he would rather set an example through his actions, music, life, and artistry.

… What is actually worth more than a thousand words is being able to inspire through my behaviour, my music and the approach I take to my life and artistry
