BTOB’s Peniel Reveals How He Confronted A Trainee Who Stole From Him

Although he couldn’t let it slide, it ended with a funny twist.

Because BTOB debuted all the way back in 2012, all of the members have plenty of memories to share from their time together and even long before that.

In the first episode of the podcast GET REAL Peniel is starring in, alongside KARD‘s BM and former Ladies’ Code member Ashley Choi, he opened up about the time another trainee stole from him and the funny confrontation that happened.

After hearing Ashley’s memory of being too shy to confront the trainee who would help themselves to her belongings, it sparked a memory for Peniel.

When something similar had happened to him, he couldn’t be as shy about it as Ashley. “Yeah, I hate that, though. I remember a trainee wore my socks, and I called him out right away.”

As soon as Peniel noticed that one of the trainees had taken a pair of his socks and put them on, he couldn’t stay silent. He first tested the waters by asking, “Yo, where did you get those socks?”

Instead of being honest about taking them, their first instinct was to lie about it. They said, “Oh, my mom bought them for me.” That’s when Peniel had a way to catch them in their lie.

They weren’t any pair of ordinary socks. That pair couldn’t be found in Korea. Peniel pointed that out to them, “You know you can only get those in America, right?” Although BM thought the trainee would continue their lie by claiming their parents went all the way to America just to get their hands on those socks, he caved.

Realizing there was no way to weasel their way out of it, they apologized to Peniel, “Hyung, I’m sorry. They’re your socks.” Peniel wasn’t too phased by the confession because he already had a solution that would settle it.

Right then and there, he asked for the trainee to hand them back. “I was like, ‘Oh no, it’s cool. Just give me the socks right now.'” They did precisely what he said; there was one problem.

Since they had been sweating from dancing, the socks were dirty. At that point, Peniel didn’t even want them anymore. Laughing, he concluded, “He took them off, and I was like, ‘Oh wait, did you dance?’ He was like, ‘Yeah.’ So, I was like, ‘Ugh,’ and I threw them away.”

If you’ve ever wondered if someone would resort to stealing socks, here’s your answer. At least Peniel set them straight. If he let them slide, they may have gone on to taking jewelry next, like a trainee did to Ashley. Check out their stories here.
