THE BOYZ’s New Underwent Evaluations To Appear On A Popular Variety Program

“It was like a trainee appraisal.”

THE BOYZ recently returned with their second full-length album, Phantasy Pt. 2: Sixth Sense, and they are currently promoting their new title track, “Watch It.”

To celebrate their comeback, THE BOYZ’s New appeared on soloist Lee Mujin‘s musical variety program, Leemujin Service.

Lee Mujin has now hosted 89 episodes of his popular YouTube series, allowing artists to showcase their vocal talents with acoustic covers while also giving them a space to open up about their careers, behind-the-scenes stories, and more.

With the exception of fromis_9‘s Hayoung and Jiwon‘s joint episode, Lee Mujin’s guests have been soloists or individual members from popular K-Pop groups.

In March, THE BOYZ’s leader Sangyeon guested on the program, and this week, it was New’s turn to show off his talents.

During his episode, New admitted that appearing on Leemujin Service wasn’t easy while explaining the unexpected process his company put him through to appear on the show.

New revealed that THE BOYZ’s company, IST Entertainment, held an appraisal to determine which member would appear on the show next.

The process, which determined more than just the next Leemujin Service guest, transported New back to his days as a trainee.

The appraisal also helped determine which songs New would perform on the show, and New shared that to prepare for his appearance on the show, he set up a camcorder and recorded each song he planned to perform.

Lee Mujin concluded that New went “back to basics” to earn his spot on the show, and the THE BOYZ member agreed.
