Minzy debuted with 2NE1 when she was only 15 years old. When 2NE1 debuted, YG Entertainment stressed that the group would be focused on talent over visuals, and the group fully embodied the “girl crush” concept.
As the maknae, Minzy was three years younger than leader CL, the second youngest member, and ten years younger than members Dara and Park Bom.

More recently, Minzy reunited with 2NE1 at Coachella in 2022 and returned to her signature bob just before the special surprise reunion.
