“We Got Married” Couple Reveals Their First Impressions Of Each Other 12 Years Later
We Got Married was a popular reality variety show that aired on MBC from 2008 to 2017. The show featured celebrities who entered fake marriages, took trips, played games together, and more.
One of these couples was actor Hong Jong Hyun and Girl’s Day‘s Yura, who appeared as an additional couple in episodes 223 to 262.
On January 8, Yura’s YouTube channel, yurayurahae, released a new video featuring her Hong Jong Hyun as a surprise guest. This 20+ minute video marks the “couple’s” first official reunion after more than a decade apart. Towards the end of the video, Yura and Jong Hyun shared memories about their We Got Married experiences, including their first impressions of each other.
“I thought he might be kinda mean,” Yura began. “Jong Hyun looked cold back then. Oppa was walking around MBC Music Core, doing this concept, like, ‘I’m looking for my wife.'”
After getting to know Jong Hyun, she realized that he wasn’t nearly as cold or unapproachable as he’d seemed.
He’s a model. Like, model-actor vibes. Total ‘cold city guy.’ With that ‘hard to approach’ image, it felt like there was this wall I couldn’t break through. But the more I got to know you, I was like, ‘Wow, you’re actually super soft inside and you take such good care of people. I really felt that while we were filming.

“I walked into the Girl’s Day waiting room, and I was like, ‘Who is it?,'” Jong Hyun said, referring to their first meeting at Music Core, “But I knew right away. The four of you were standing there, and [you were hiding behind Sojin].”
“My first impression of you was really shy, kind of like a soft, ‘girly’ vibe,” he continued, “but after a while, you were the opposite of me: bright, talkative, and I was glad we were different.”
“It feels like they paired us on purpose,” Yura replied. “The PD probably thought, ‘If it’s her, maybe she can break through his wall,’ and wanted that picture. So they matched us like that.”
