GOT7’s BamBam Recalls How His Mother Helped Him Achieve His K-Pop Dreams
Despite his tremendous success and international fame as a K-Pop idol, GOT7‘s BamBam has never forgotten his humble beginnings in his home country of Thailand. The 25-year-old singer recounted the origins of his career as a singer when he appeared on the 영국남자 Korean Englishman YouTube channel to hosts Josh Carrott and Ollie Kendal.
He said that his mother, Kochakorn Sermsuksakulchai (also known as Mama B), raised him and his three siblings alone after his father passed away.
BamBam’s sanctuary during that difficult time in his life was dance. His first dance group was called We Zaa Cool, which was where he met BLACKPINK‘s Lisa for the first time! The two have shared a strong friendship since then.
“But even though we didn’t have so much money, my mum still found a way to send me to dance school because I said I want to dance,” BamBam said. He also shared that he would use the money they received from dance battles to help support his mother.
Eventually, after years of hard work and perseverance, he repaid his mother for all the love and support she gave him growing up. To this day, BamBam still gets emotional when he thanks his mother for her kindness.
