Broadcaster Haha revealed how his daughter’s rare disease changed his life.
On the 15th, a video featuring Haha was uploaded to YouTube. In the video, Haha, speaking to Kim Soo Yong, who recently lost consciousness due to health issues but recovered, said, “Since quitting smoking, your face definitely looks better.”
He then recalled his own experience: “I quit smoking four years ago when my youngest daughter Songie was sick.”
Regarding his feelings at the time, he said, “I felt so shameless before God. I had been living recklessly and without much restraint, so I thought, ‘Maybe I should give up the one thing I truly like,’ and the choice was smoking.”
He added, “I completely quit because I was afraid that if I smoked again, my child might get sick again,” which moved many listeners.
Haha and his wife Byul married in 2012 and have two sons and one daughter. Earlier, the couple shared that their youngest daughter Songie had Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare disease that weakens muscle function, but she has now fully recovered, receiving widespread support and encouragement.
