For female idols, stage outfits usually involve skin-revealing pieces, with members often wearing short skirts, dresses, or shorts. To avoid any issues while dancing, idols wear safety garments like safety shorts to prevent accidental flashing.
However, one star made headlines for precisely the opposite — going on stage allegedly commando.
In the early 2000s, there were fewer regulations on what idols could wear on stage, resulting in some sexy outfits that would raise eyebrows today. Singer Lee Chaeyeon, who originally debuted in 2001 as a member of a Japanese group, was known for her sexy image.
In fact, the music video for her successful track “Two of Us” was considered controversial for being too “racy,” containing scenes showing her whole back and exposed underwear.
Before this release, however, the idol was suspected of appearing at a music show in a short dress without underwear.
On the September 28, 2003 edition of Inkigayo, Chaeyeon appeared and performed her track “Dangerous Directing,” while wearing a short silver strapless dress.
After the performance, it was reported that Chaeyeon had allegedly told industry insiders that she was not wearing underwear.

The dress the idol wore featured a large cut out portion near the hip, which likely encouraged the thoughts.
The star would later address the rumors more than a decade later, saying that she was wearing underwear, and even revealed how they allegedly did certain scenes in her music videos.
There was even debate over how exactly I wore underwear, with some people saying, ‘Isn’t she not wearing any at all?’ I wore everything underneath — in the music video, we used fishing line as part of the styling trick.

Though she has sometimes taken longer hiatuses, Chaeyeon has stayed active throughout the years. The idol, now 46, has aged gracefully, and looks youthful and gorgeous!
