ITZY’s Yeji And Lia Reveal Why They Weren’t Close During Their Trainee Days

“It wasn’t that bad!”

All of the ITZY members shine brighter when they’re together, proving just how close they are with each other! But during Yeji and Lia‘s episode of 2TZY: Hello 2021, the two revealed that they were far from close during their trainee days.

Yeji and Lia.

As they thought back on the moments leading up to ITZY’s third year, Yeji opened up about how Lia and she were not originally close. Recalling their first meeting at seventeen years old, Yeji said, “MIDZY might not be interested. But when Lia and I were trainees, we weren’t close at all.

But don’t be mistaken! Lia said, “It wasn’t that bad.” They didn’t hit it off from the very beginning simply because their paths didn’t cross much often.

After they laughed about Yeji’s old-school word choice to say “our whereabouts were very different,” Lia clarified, “Our paths were really different.

During their trainee days, Yeji and Lia rarely had any chances to meet each other. The two had different practice schedules and didn’t get a chance to meet in the dorms since Lia commuted from home.

Yeji came on the weekends, and I didn’t go on the weekends. And you stayed in the dorm, and I commuted from Incheon.

Yeji revealed that even when they were practicing at the same time, they hadn’t even been able to train together. She explained, “And even the practice rooms were different. Our paths just didn’t cross.” Yeji also revealed that she was actually jealous of Lia during the small chances that their paths crossed!

Although it took Lia and Yeji even longer to become friends, when they became the final ITZY members, Lia noted that they “naturally adjusted to one another” and accepted each other unconditionally!

All the members come from different walks of life with different personalities, which is why they were able to become the unique group they are today! Watch Lia and Yeji share how their different paths merged to become the flowery one of their precious friendship.
