IU Had A Good Reason For Changing Her Hair Color So Quickly

Soloist IU recently made her highly anticipated comeback with the release of her 6th mini-album, The Winning, on February 20, 2024.

To celebrate the release of her new mini-album, she joined comedian Yang Se Chan as a guest on popular comedian and MC Yoo Jae Suk‘s YouTube talk show, Pinggyego.

During the episode, they discussed her comeback, how the three have crossed paths, IU’s style, and more.

Specifically, IU addressed the recent drastic hair transformation she debuted after she had admittedly not bleached her hair in a while.

On January 11, IU shocked fans when she bleached her hair and dyed it a trendy, baby pink color, earning praise from netizens.

Less than a month later, she again shocked fans when she dyed her hair back to a darker shade, debuting light brown hair at an event for cosmetic company Estée Lauder on February 1, 2024.

IU has maintained the darker brown hair color since and explained why she dyed it so quickly.

IU shared that it had become too difficult to manage, with her having to go to the salon every few days for them to bleach her roots and mix the specific color needed. Instead of continuing with that routine, she decided to go with a more natural hair color but explained that even that was a process.

While Yoo Jae Suk had noted how natural IU’s hair looks now, she admitted that to achieve the color, it was painstakingly done by experts “one strand at a time.”
