Top Model Slammed For Being A “National Disgrace” For Her Revealing Outfit
Throughout the years, Japanese women have stunned in their national costumes as Miss Universe Japan, much like Maiko Itai in 2010. However, the year prior, things didn’t go so well for Miss Japan in 2009.
After beating more than 3,000 applicants for the title of Miss Universe Japan, model Emiri Miyasaka unfortunately received flack for her revealing outfit.
The extremely short skirt was the center of attention, causing people to call the outfit “perverted” as well as a “national disgrace” that “mocked Japanese culture.”
Originally, the skirt was longer, but it was modified shortly before the press conference as a last-minute decision.
She received a lot of hate comments on the look, with many people saying it looks like an outfit for a “porn star or prostitute.”
At the actual pageant, she took the criticism and wore a more conservative version of the design with a longer skirt.
