A K-Pop Idol’s Secret Pregnancy Was Recorded In A Fancam…And No One Realized

While idols having secret relationships while active is not a rare circumstance, an idol who is actually pregnant while promoting is much rarer, due to the physical changes that occur. That’s not to say there aren’t ways of making it more discreet, as Afterschool‘s Jungah did, who participated in a reunion while five months pregnant.

One third-generation idol put this to the test — and passed — when she managed to go on stage and left no one the wiser to her pregnancy.

In 2017, rumors of then-Laboum’s Yulhee and FTISLAND Choi Minhwan‘s relationship were sparked after Yulhee accidentally shared photos of the two before their agencies confirmed the news in September.

Just a few months later, Yulhee’s departure from Laboum was announced. In January 2018, news reports revealed that the two were engaged and that Yulhee was pregnant. The couple did not confirm this until May, with Yulhee giving birth days later and the pair having already been legally wed.

Yulhee previously shared that she found out she was pregnant a day before the news of her dating, and continued as a member of Laboum, including attending a fan event in Japan while pregnant.

One of her final performances took place when she was 3-4 months pregnant, on October 9, 2017.

The members are all dressed the same, but when looking closely at Yulhee, her stomach protrudes a bit more than the way organs do on a thinner person.

She spoke about this performance in a 2024 interview, where she revealed that she had told the stylist she was pregnant, and they helped to dress her in a way that would not be “burdensome.”
