LE SSERAFIM Picks The B-Side Track That They Thought Was “Shocking But In A Good Way” When They First Heard It

Here’s why.

LE SSERAFIM has just made a long-awaited comeback! Following the success of their song “ANTIFRAGILE,” they’re now back with the equally addictive “Unforgiven.”

Besides the title track, the girls also released B-side tracks that were positively received. One of the fan favorites was also loved by the girls themselves: “Eve, Psyche and The Bluebeard’s Wife.” With lyrics such as, “I’m the only one who decides my rules,” it is a reflection of their own lives and their desire to attain what they traditionally cannot.

When they heard the song for the first time, their reaction was a memorable one. They still recount feeling shocked at the bold sound and lyrics.

[It was] shocking, but in a good way

— Yunjin

It is considered their most daring song to date. The girls don’t hold back in speaking their minds and going against what is expected of K-Pop idols like them.

I know you’re lying saying, ‘It’s okay’ no matter what.
When I hear you saying, ‘It’s okay,’ with your kind face, no matter what, it’s not okay.
My rules, only I will get to decide those kinds of things.
I wish for what’s forbidden.

Smile, smile, be more like a doll.
Hide it, hide all your emotions, all of it.
I don’t want to, I don’t want to.
Even if I grimace, that’s me.

This song reminded the members of their own histories of going against naysayers. Sakura, for instance, brought up the criticism she received after she finished her contract with IZ*ONE and returned to Japan. She decided to leave everything to re-debut South Korea, this time with LE SSERAFIM. Many people believed she was “too old” to be restarting her career almost from scratch.

Whenever I mentioned my goals in my life, my big dreams, there were people who told me that [those goals] were only achievable by others in the past because of who they were.

— Sakura

She embodied the lyrics of “Eve, Psyche, and the Bluebeard’s Wife” even back then—doing what she thought was right for herself no matter what others said.

But I was like: ‘Why would I give up even before trying, even before starting?’ And so, I have decided to pursue my goals and dreams however I want.

— Sakura

Now, LE SSERAFIM is thriving!
