Netizen Shares Terrifying Experience Of Encountering A Sasaeng Fan On A Flight
Recently, a netizen’s story about sitting next to a sasaeng fan on a flight went viral on social media, highlighting the scary reality of what many K-Pop idols have to endure in their day-to-day lives.
The netizen, going by the username “@hotteoksaranghae” on TikTok, shared a video retelling their experience. She revealed that she was recently on the same flight as the girl group IVE, sitting right behind them. “But genuinely, this was the scariest flight in my life,” she added, stating that a sasaeng fan was seated right next to her.

“I don’t even know how they find out that the idols are flying,” the OP (original poster) said, baffled at the fact that sasaeng fans routinely book the same flights as idols. She continued, sharing that during the flight, the curtain between the business class and priority seats was drawn, making the people sitting in OP’s section unable to see IVE anymore. “This guy literally started flipping out,” she recalled, adding that the fan was constantly hitting the chair and making noises to express his frustration at not being able to see IVE from his seat anymore.
“He was getting so angry that they closed the curtain. It was so freaking scary,” the OP admitted, adding that the man proceeded to take his cameras out of his bag along with the letters he had brought to presumably give to the girls, and started throwing things around. Someone sitting beside the OP, whom she assumed to be a manager or a staff member of IVE, finally intervened and told the man off.
The OP also mentioned that the IVE members all probably heard the man freaking out since there was only a curtain separating them from all the chaos. “I can’t even imagine how scared they must have felt in that moment,” she added. The OP also included a brief clip of this alleged sasaeng fan on the flight at the very end of her video.
Really it's not normal.
This is technically stalking…And lowkey, although I like photos and vids of my faves taken by fans, I really worry about HOW IN THE WORLD some accounts are literally everywhere they are.
At the end of the day WE ARE JUST FANS. Don't get it twisted. pic.twitter.com/qrwK6JGIfQ

This story has sparked a heated discussion on the sasaeng fan culture, with many criticizing the contribution of K-Pop agencies in fueling such behavior further for profits, and the complicity of normal fans.
The companies' own employees leak flight information, and sasaengs can even get rich selling private information and photos of idols… https://t.co/03QJd2COEG

Mmmm yeah no that's not a fan, that's totally a stalker, like wdym they found out flight info and booked it? Maybe be a normal fan and join proper fan events to meet ur idols. They deserve their privacy just like any other person. Literally insane behaviour, bro needs therapy. https://t.co/O3Xrf0RGMs
