Netizens Outraged Over Viral Clip Of Korean Boy Violently Hitting His Mother

A clip from the popular Korean parenting show, My Golden Kids, has triggered fierce outrage on the internet.

The clip in question showed a young boy, reportedly around the age of twelve, asking for pocket money from his mother. Though she hands him his usual allowance, he demands ₩20,000 KRW (about $13.90 USD) more, which the mother refuses. The son’s behavior then gets erratic as he searches through his mother’s belongings and grabs another ₩10,000 KRW (about $6.93 USD).

When the mother asks him to return it, the boy starts hitting his mother violently, throwing punches at her. The mother, who appeared to have already hurt her hand, was trying to back him off, but the boy only got more aggressive, hitting her behind the head. The older brother intervenes, but to no avail. The younger one then runs to the kitchen, looking for a knife to demand more money. At the end of the clip, the boy is seen lying on the floor, screaming for more money as the mother and the older brother watch him in silence.

This clip has gone extremely viral on X (former Twitter), with over 50 million views. Netizens from all around the globe expressed their horror at the child’s behavior, wondering how violent he might become as an adult. On the show, the mother had revealed that she was a single mother and that her older son was a kind and dependable child. She also mentioned that she had broken two of her fingers while trying to fight off another violent fit of her younger son. With his behavior and history in context, many netizens were also left wondering if gentle parenting was the right approach for such a kid.
