NewJeans Spills How They Knew “Attention” Was Going To Be Successful

Even their company’s CEO, Min Hee Jin, was confident.

The K-Pop girl group NewJeans was an overnight sensation worldwide. Their arrival was so historic and successful that they now hold the record for the highest debut album sales in its first week, despite their first single, “Attention,” being a surprise release to the public.

Some might say that no one could have seen how big NewJeans was going to be, but the members had an unshakeable faith in themselves and their company’s CEO, Min Hee Jin, who was responsible for the branding of famous SM Entertainment groups like Girls’ Generation, SHINee, f(x), EXO, and Red Velvet.

When asked on the variety series You Quiz On The Block how they felt hearing the news “Attention” and their other single, “Hype Boy,” had topped the music charts, Minji said, “We actually heard ‘Attention’ two years before the debut. Even though we practiced it for two years, we never got sick of it. So we knew ‘Attention’ will be a hit.

After hearing the girls had practiced the same song for over two years, host Yoo Jae Suk‘s eyes and mouth opened in shock.

Min Hee Jin explained that when she visited You Quiz On The Block in December 2021, all NewJeans’ songs were already ready, but she had to resist talking about them.

The hard work and patience of the NewJeans members and Min Hee Jin paid off in the long run. Although some might not have seen it coming, the girls had been working hard for years, which is why they were sure they would be successful. Now that they had debuted, Min Hee Jin expressed her strong desire for them to continue to succeed and be happy.
