“Penthouse” Choi Ye Bin Once Lost All Her Savings Through A Voice Phishing Scam
SBS K-Drama Penthouse actress Choi Ye Bin shared a story about being scammed on a recent episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros. She revealed that the scammer pretended to be a prosecutor.
I was scammed through voice phishing before I debuted. They pretended to be a prosecutor and told me that my bank account was in danger. I searched the prosecutor’s name online and it was a real person.

Because this happened before debut, she didn’t have much in her bank account.
This was before I debuted so I was going through a hard time. The 900,000 KRW ($~760.91 USD) I had in my bank account was all I had. I would have been suspicious if they had told me to send the money, but they told me to buy gift certificates with the money and send them the serial number. They told me they would return the money after everything was settled. The total amount of my bank savings was zero after that day.
