A Single Picture Turned A Hospital Worker Into A Beloved K-Drama Actress

Her story is no less than a K-Drama itself!

Being an actor in the Korean entertainment industry is no easy feat. Apart from the strict visual standards, it is known to be a demanding job that many prepare for from a young age. Many of the popular actors today in the industry started out as early as child actors, which inevitably helped them get a kickstart. But for one such beloved actress, the journey was completely different.

Actor So Ju Yeon has made her mark in the industry within very few years with back-to-back hit projects like Lovestruck In The City, Dr. Romantic, and A Love So Beautiful, among others. With her girl-next-door charm and impressive acting skills, So has become one of the most beloved new faces by K-Drama fans.

Growing up, So dreamed of becoming Miss Korea but eventually had to give up on it due to her height. She went on to graduate from university and started working at a hospital administration office. But her life took a sharp turn when she posted a picture of herself at the job on her personal social media.

The picture caught the eye of an entertainment insider, which led to her being scouted by her agency, LSAC Model. She started off as a model, making her debut in 2017 in an ad film. Her visuals captivated viewers so much that her picture started circulating online with a newly earned nickname, “3-second Lim Soo Jung,” comparing her visuals to the veteran actress.
