A veteran Korean actress recently shared her surreal experience of witnessing her own impact during a livestream.

The actress in question is Lee Da Hae, who has spent over two decades in the Korean entertainment industry.

Lee recently posted a vlog of her latest schedule overseas to appear on a livestream at the invitation of a long-time friend and influencer, Dandan. The Chinese social media star, who boasts a following of over 110 million, had a goal of making ₩400 billion KRW (about $293 million USD) from her Korean livestreams. So, she reached out to Lee for help.

The actress tried to rearrange her schedule to appear on Dandan’s broadcast but had trouble booking flights. That’s when the influencer made a baffling offer: a private jet to fly her into China! The jet, which reportedly cost ₩70.0 million KRW (about $51,300 USD), was arranged just for Lee’s travel.

As the actress arrived at the airport, she received VIP treatment and was greeted with luxurious meals on board. Despite being a celebrity, Lee was taken aback by the opulence, joking that even though she tried not to appear like a country bumpkin, the experience left her completely speechless.

When Lee finally joined the livestream, she stayed for only half an hour. However, this brief segment ended up generating ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $14.6 million USD) in sales. The staff jokingly nicknamed her “Lee 20 Billion.”

Lee humbly attributed this entire experience to Dandan and jokingly remarked that she should treat her like an unnie, even though Dandan was younger than her.

The experience not only highlighted the sustained popularity of Lee Da Hae in China but also reflected how the wealth and influence of Chinese social media stars don’t compare to any other country.
