“Am I The *sshole?” — Man Is Outrageously Jealous He “Can’t Compete” With His Wife’s K-Pop Bias

There is a happy ending to this story!

While the stereotyped image is a teenage girl, K-Pop fans come from various backgrounds, seamlessly blending their favorite idols into their activities. In recent years, it has become increasingly popular to incorporate your favorite groups into weddings, with some spouses even performing for the K-Pop fan they are marrying.

However, it seems not everyone in a relationship is comfortable with as proven by one Reddit user who shared his insecurity over his wife’s love of an idol.

On the subreddit “Am I the *sshole,” a forum where users can ask the opinion of other users on complex issues, a man shared a post describing the “problem” he was having. In the post, he said he was married to a woman who seemed perfect until he discovered the other man — SHINee‘s Minho.

In the post, he described how they went to a concert, and when SHINee performed “Body Rhythm,” his wife, understandably, was “foaming at the mouth and screaming.” At this point, he asked if she loved Minho more than him, and she said yes.

A few weeks passed, and he stated that while he felt guilty about the outburst, he was left feeling insecure, thus leading him to reach out to the online community.

Responses were mixed, with some saying he was overreacting to the entire thing. Others looked down on his wife’s behavior, calling her immature or talking negatively about K-Pop fans in general.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) got a kick out of seeing the post, sharing it online, and causing it to go viral.

It was so viral that the wife in the post saw it, leading to an update from the husband.

According to the update, the pair had a long conversation where the wife explained how much SHINee meant to her and how that didn’t detract from her feelings for him. The OP shared that he felt bad over his reaction and was now looking to send her to see the group, and stated he accepted that “sometimes it’s okay to be second to Choi Minho.”

It’s nice to see this story have a better ending than a previous post, where a man demanded his fiancé get rid of her K-Pop tattoo, which you can read below.
