SHINee’s Minho Opens Up About The Senior Idol Group Member Who Helps Him Through Hard Times
SHINee debuted in 2008 as SM Entertainment‘s third 2nd-gen K-Pop boy group following the success of TVXQ and Super Junior.
As the Hallyu Wave continued to spread through Asia and beyond, SHINee held their own as one of the talented groups at the forefront of K-Pop’s early global expansion.
The group has had many successes and a lot of cherished memories together but has also faced difficult times, including the passing of SHINee’s beloved Jonghyun in 2017.
Through the tragic loss, SHINee found strength in each other, and their bond remains strong to this day. They’ve continued forward as a group and consistently show each other support in individual activities as the group’s maknae Taemin completes his mandatory military service.
SHINee’s Minho recently reflected on the group’s journey from debut until now and shared that he’s experienced loneliness and hard times but that he found a solid support system in another SM Entertainment idol who helped Minho through his difficulties.
Minho named TVXQ’s Changmin as the sunbae who helped him the most. The two are known to have a close friendship and were even hilariously caught up in a dating rumor together in 2010 when Minho, who had long hair at the time, was mistaken for a girl by a Japanese media outlet.
Minho shared that whenever he felt lonely, Changmin listened to his difficulties and tried to help him through any issues he was having. They often talked about hardships over a glass of soju, and Changmin consistently offered his support to the younger idol.

The two continue to show their close friendship to this day, proving their close bond.
