Why Suzy Labelled J.Y.Park A “Terrible” CEO

J.Y. Park (also known as Park Jin Young), the CEO of JYP Entertainment, is often considered one of the best K-Pop CEOs in the industry today, given his close relationship with all the artists under his label.

Park is known for his warm relationship with multiple of his artists, including TWICE, and even the ones who later left his company, such as Sunmi, GOT7, and Suzy.

Suzy, who was a member of Miss A, was one of the star idols working under J.Y. Park. But going against his usual reputation, Suzy once described him as a bad boss.
The story dates back to 2015. It was April, and J.Y. Park had just released his digital single album 24/34, featuring a track titled “Who’s Your Mama?” The controversial song featuring rapper Jessi praised women with a 24-inch waist and 34-inch hips. Model Lee Hyun Ji’s bold appearance in the music video added another flair to the provocative element of the song.
Despite the criticism, “Who’s Your Mama?” became a sensation, dominating major Korean music charts. In fact, it beat Miss A’s “Only You” on the charts. During the fourth week of April 2015, it was the top song on Melon’s weekly chart, while “Only You” was at number 2.
This prompted Suzy to take to her personal social media account and jokingly call J.Y. Park a “terrible CEO,” along with a screenshot of his song surpassing her group’s. J.Y. Park responded playfully, reminding Suzy that she had partial responsibility in this because she was the one who suggested featuring Jessi on the track.
Meanwhile, Suzy debuted with Miss A in 2010, and the group disbanded in 2017. She left JYP Entertainment in 2019 after her exclusive contract expired. She is currently preparing to appear in the Netflix K-Drama Genie, Make A Wish as the protagonist Ga Young.
