The Top Actress Who Was Rumored To Be “Too Pretty” To Join Girls’ Generation
Actress Lee Yeon Hee made a guest appearance on Girls’ Generation Yuri‘s YouTube channel, where they showed off their close friendship to the viewers. In this particular video, the two beauties also showcased their cooking abilities for the episode. As Lee Yeon Hee and Yuri ate and conversed, there was one particular topic that caught the attention of viewers — the supposed reason why the actress didn’t make Girls’ Generation’s final lineup.
It started when the girls were feasting on their culinary creation. Lee Yeon Hee stops eating to ask Yuri what she meant from earlier when they were cooking together.
Lee Yeon Hee: “What did you mean from earlier?”
Yuri: “If I remember correctly, there is a myth about Yeon Hee unnie. The real reason why Lee Yeon Hee didn’t join Girls’ Generation.”
It was here that Yuri revealed that the actress couldn’t join the global girl group because of her top tier beauty!
It’s because Yeon Hee unnie was too beautiful all on her own.

Yuri elaborated on the reason, stating that it’s actually a very famous myth that all SM Entertainment artists know about.
No I really mean it! There’s a myth about this within SM Entertainment. She was just too pretty on her own. People said that she would take all of the attention if she was put in between the other girls, who are all about the same level of prettiness.

Yuri then shared her thoughts on what Lee Yeon Hee’s position would have been if she debuted as a Girls’ Generation member, to which the actress had a hilarious response.
Yuri: “Unnie, I think you would have become the leader.”
Lee Yeon Hee: “If I did join the group and became the leader, then I probably wouldn’t have become close with you guys hahaha”
Lee Yeon Hee and her friendships with the Girls’ Generation members are widely known, as they all trained together during their trainee days. After the debut of Girls’ Generation, rumors began to circulate online about the girl group’s potential debut lineup, which included other well-known SM Entertainment artists, such as the actress herself.
In 2018, Lee Yeon Hee addressed these ongoing rumors, confessing that it was true that she was indeed a part of the group’s debut lineup. However, the actress shared that she realized she “lacked a lot while training alongside the Girls’ Generation members,” which was the reason why she believes she didn’t make it to the end.
While she may not have made the final lineup, we’re glad that she remained close friends with the Girls’ Generation members. Lee Yeon Hee ended up leaving SM Entertainment in 2020 and joining VAST Entertainment. You can catch the entire video of Lee Yeon Hee and Yuri down below.
